Resumo

A test-section has been constructed consisting of two vertical, concentric Inconel tubes. Both tubes were electrically heated and boiling water passed up the narrow annulus between them. Wall temperatures of the exposed surfaces of both tubes were measured at many locations over ranges of the following variables - inlet water sub-cooling (10 – 200°F), coolant pressure (390 - 930 p.s.i.g.), coolant mass velocity 4-35 × 104 lbs./ft2. hr.), heat flux (below 3 watts/cm2). A few pressure drop readings were also taken. In general the cooling was effective and circumferentially uniform, but under certain conditions it was possible for dry-out to occur at outlet qualities below 70% and for this to spread a considerable distance down the test-section.
