Resumo

Measurements of local heat flux for control led condensing surface temperatures during film condensation on a vertical cylindrical surface are reported. These results are considered to have enhanced precision and their relationship to earl ier work suggests that deviation from boundary layer theoretical analysis is due to the combined effects of surface roughness and 1iquid-vapor interfacial instability. Measurements were made in the film Reynolds number range between 50 and 500. Average film condensation heat transfer coefficients were obtained from condensation rate measurements and these results compared very closely with the averages obtained from local measurements. Experiments were performed using both saturated and superheated vapor.
