Evaluation of the Rohsenow correlation through nucleate pool boiling data for refrigerants R-11, R-123, R-12, and R-134a

Resumo

Present paper reports pool boiling experiments with halocarbon refrigerants R-11, R-123, R-12 and R-134a on copper and stainless steel horizontal cylindrical surfaces with different finishings. Boiling curves have been raised for reduced pressures ranging from 0.0073 to 0.26. Experimental results have been fitted through a Rohsenow type of correlation what allowed us to obtain the liquid/surface coefficient for the combinations considered in present study. Experimental results obtained elsewhere have also been correlated with good accuracy by the Rohsenow correlation adjusted by the proposed coefficient.
