Heat transfer in multiple impinging jet arrays
Resumo
The flow eld and heat transfer of multiple impinging jets are calculated. Two geometrical arrangements of nozzles are studied, a square set-up and a circular set-up. Also two turbulence models are tested, the standard k − ε model and the v2 − f model (Durbin, 1991). The results of the square set-up reveal an unforeseen broken symmetry, which aects the flow eld and the heat transfer distribution. Both turbulence models predict this broken symmetry, but the predictions of the turbulent kinetic energy and the heat transfer dier for both models. The peak values are dierent for both the kinetic energy and the Nusselt number. Also the position of regions with high turbulent kinetic energy and the heat transfer distribution is dierent. Both models predict symmetric results for the circular set-up, as expected.
