Resumo

The turbulent heat transfer rate and wall temperature distribution in rectangular ducts (aspect ratio 10) with 180 °−bend were studied experimentally. The inner and outer walls are uniformly heated while the side walls are insulated. The fluid is air and the Reynolds number is in the range 7000 to 26500. The results show that the Nusselt number is increased at the outer wall and decreased at the inner wall in comparison with straight duct. The dependence of the Nusselt number on the Reynolds number in curved section is different from that in straight duct. A theoretical model based on Nee and Kovasznay's rate equation for the eddy diffusivity was used to solve the energy equation. The results were compared with experimental data.
