FORCED CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER IN PASSAGES WITH ACCELERATING TURBULENT FLOW
Resumo
The principal objective was to carry out an experimental investigation of heat transfer to a turbulent flow in which the influence of acceleration could be observed free from complicating factors such as compressibility, large physical property variations, local separation and secondary flows, and inadequately controlled thermal boundary conditions. The ideal arrangement would be a sink-flow. The
practical approximation adopted here was an annulus with interchangeable tapered core sections. Heat transfer data was obtained for the acceleration region, showing the progressive deterioration in Nusselt number, and the downstream parallel section, revealing a very slow recovery of Nusselt number in some cases.
