Resumo

This paper deals with an approximate numerical analysis of laminar filmwise condensation of quiescent saturated vapour on a vertical fluted plate, of which the opposite side is flat and cooled by coolant of uniform temperature. Calculations are made for practical ranges of parameters. There are presented the distributions of heat flux density, surface temperature, Nusselt number etc., and the effects of depth to pitch ratio of the flute, conductivity of the wall material and several dimensionless numbers upon heat transfer, and the comparison for average Nusselt number with the special cases of uniform surface temperature and flat plate graphically. The average Nusselt number calculated agrees well with the experimental data quoted.
