Resumo

High surface heat fluxes are required in a number of modern applications including fusion devices, electronic systems, X-ray tubes and others. Subcooled boiling on internally finned surfaces is one way to handle these high fluxes. An analysis is presented for the coupled wall conduction/channel thermal hydraulic steady state problems. The model is described in detail and the results of numerical solution are compared with experimental data obtained for a specific geometry with a distributed heat source in the wall.
The analytical model accounts for the circumferentially non-uniform and non-linear thermal boundary condition and the non-uniform wal1 shear stress at each axial location in the boiling region. Void fraction in the non-equilibrium two-phase flow is calculated and it is employed in the calculation of the acceleration component of the pressure gradient. The model may be used to predict the limiting power and for assessing the effects of geometry and operating conditions.
