Resumo

To provide a physical base from which to interpret the observed phenomena and to show that the effect of the "rewetting temperature" in rewetting analysis is one of the most important parameter, an analytical model based on six heat transfer regions was established to predict the temperature-time trace curves at various axial locations of vertical circular channels during the bottom flooding transient. Appropriate heat transfer coefficients for each region are calculated and an empirically correlated "rewetting temperature" is used.
A substantial agreement was obtained between the analytical and experimental results and this demonstrates the dominant role played by the "rewetting temperature" in the analysis of rewetting phenomena. The study also showed that the effect of the two-phase flow heat transfer coefficients behind the rewetting front is minor.
