Resumo

In convective film boiling of dispersed liquid-vapor flows, it is recognized that the vapor can attain a nonequilibrium superheated state. The vaporization generation rate is then governed by the rate of heat transfer from the superheated vapor to the entrained liquid droplets at saturation temperature. In this work, using recently obtained measurements of nonequilibrium vapor temperatures, a correlation was developed for the net vapor-generation rate in dispersed-flow film boiling of water in vertical tubes. The correlation was extended to higher pressures using inferred vapor superheats from earlier published data. The resulting correlation for the vapor generation function is presented in terms of local thermal-hydraulic parameters and thermodynamic properties.
