Cooling system is a primary concern in data center, since the energy consumption of cooling system accounts for a large proportion of the total. This paper proposes an optimization method to reduce the total cost of the cooling system. The optimization method establishes the physical model of an integrated cooling system which is a combination of thermosyphon loop and vapor compression refrigeration cycle, and the optimization objective is to minimize the total life-cycle cost of the system. The life-cycle cost is expressed as a function of the parameters of components, and it reflects the influence of each component on the overall performance of the cooling system. The optimization results obtain the optimal parameters for each component and show a remarkable energy saving effect, and the total cost of the optimal solution makes an obvious reduction compared with the existing integrated cooling system.
