要約

Two-dimensional natural convection melting in an enclosure filled with pure n-octadecane affected by heatgenerating element located under the heat-conducting plate with fins has been studied numerically. The melt flow and heat transfer considered inside the cavity are described mathematically by 2D Navier-Stokes equations, including the energy equation for the melt written in the enthalpy formulation. The heat conduction inside the heat source is governed by the unsteady two-dimensional heat conduction equation with a source term. The governing equations formulated in dimensionless stream function, vorticity and temperature with corresponding initial and boundary conditions have been solved using the finite difference method of the second order accuracy. The effect of heat-conducting fins on cooling process has been analyzed in detail.
