Determination of Thermal Contact Resistance Coefficients Through Thermo-Mechanical Simulation
要約
An accurate description of the heat conduction between rough surfaces is of paramount importance given the numerous technical challenges in the field of energy engineering. Published correlations for the analytical calculation of the thermal contact resistance (TCR) rely on certain simplifications and have shown to deviate from measured data.
This paper introduces an alternative approach for determining the TCR by numerical simulation. Used surface geometries are either generated in accordance with pre-defined geometric parameters (roughness, mean slope) or are based on topographically measured surfaces of metal specimens. The elastic-plastic deformation of two surfaces under contact pressure, and the resulting effective surface area in contact is determined. A stationary temperature profile is then calculated using Finite Difference Method and the TCR-coefficient is determined by the temperature drop at the contact region.
With this novel approach, knowledge of interdependencies between TCR-coefficients and its governing parameters (contact pressure, surface geometry and material properties) is improved. These parameters are independently varied and compared to published analytical correlations.
