要約

Flooded boiling tests of ammonia/lubricant mixture on the outside (shell side) of plain-tube bundles have been conducted in the present study. All tubes were of 0.75 in (19.1 mm) nominal tube diameter, and were heated by tube-side fluid flow with flow rates individually measured. Boiling heat transfer coefficients of individual tubes in a 3 × 5 tube bundle were measured, enabling a detailed study of bundle effect as well as other effects such as heat flux, inlet quality, concentration of miscible lubricant (co-polymer of polyalkylene glycol, PAG), and saturation temperature. Tests were conducted in the range of heat flux from 1,000 to 10,000 Btu/(hr-ft2) (3.2 to 32.0 kW/m2), simulated inlet quality from 0.0 to 0.4, saturation temperature from 8.2 to +45°F (−13.2 to +7.2°C), and lubricant concentration from 0 to 10%. Comparison of performance was made between single plain-tube and plain-tube bundle. Pool boiling correlations were developed based on the present experimental data for plain tube bundle with lubricant and vapor quality effects.
