要約

In conventional solidification of multi-component mixtures, compositional partitioning occurs and results in an inhomogeneous solid phase in its structure and composition. From the standpoints that the fineness of inhomogeneity influences the mechanical properties in material processing and life-and-death of living cell in cryopreservation, the way of thinking for linking macro-heat transfer and micro-phase change was discussed through the following issues; (I) micro-solidification of mixtures with supercooling, (2) micro-solidification of mixtures in mushy zone, and (3) micro-freezing of biological substances.
