要約

Heat transfer in particulate systems occurs in many parts of the process industries and even today the prediction of the film heat transfer coefficient leaves much to be desired. Correlations exist which can be used to evaluate values of the coefficient, but the problem arises, which value should be used in design calculations. This presentation briefly discusses some of the problems associated with the interpretation of the film heat transfer coefficient, especially when used in lumped parameter models of the dynamic transfer process and a number of suggestions are proposed for the fingerprinting of the experimental data used to generate the correlations. These relate to structure of the particulate system, the pressure drop characteristics of the system and the analysis of the thermal data, via heat balances of the original experimental investigations. Future reported pressure drop and film heat transfer data should not be accepted in the open literature unless the supporting information regarding the fingerprinting of the experimental technique and data reduction methods are included.
