要約

Intensification of process heat exchangers has led to considerable interest in very compact heat exchangers for evaporation. These heat exchangers are characterised by multichannel passages with hydraulic diameters of around 1 mm. The regimes of two-phase flow which occur in these passages differ from those in larger systems and our previous work has shown the importance of confined-bubble flow where discrete close-packed bubbles are constrained by the geometry of the passage.
In this work, study of the representation of the boiling, process using Reynolds numbers is extended to confined-bubble flow and a tentative correlation based on the limited data available is presented. The mechanism of evaporation is explored experimentally using a high speed video of the development and growth of bubbles between narrow plates.
