要約

New wall functions for natural convection have been derived by means of dimensional analysis and experimental data. Because only local values and fluid properties are included, the proposed wall functions are suitable for numerical simulation. The validation in natural convection along a vertical flat plate and in a tall rectangular cavity shows that the new wall functions provide a good determination of the wall shear stress and heat flux. and allow a variation of the size of the first near-wall grid to be more than an order of magnitude of the wall distance. Moreover, a certain analogy of length, velocity, and temperature scales between natural and forced convection has been found.
