要約

A nearly theoretical model for heat transfer at high wall superheats or in fully developed nucleate boiling of a saturated liquid is proposed. It is hypothesized that the heat transfer in this region takes place mainly due to the evaporation occurring at the periphery of the vapor stems, which are formed within a liquid macro/micro layer and are located on active nucleation sites. Thus if the evaporative heat flux at a single vapor stem and nucleation site density are known, the fully developed nucleate boiling heat flux can be determined. In the present work, Wang and Dhir's model for active nucleation site density and the vapor stem model were exercised to determine the dependence of fully developed nucleate boiling heat flux on wall superheat. The prediction from the model shows a good agreement with the data obtained on vertical and horizontal copper plates submerged in a pool of saturated water. The effect of system pressure on the prediction of fully developed nucleate boiling heat flux is also discussed.
