要約

The traditional way of controlling the growth of biofilms is by the use of biocides, eg. chlorine. It may be possible however, to reduce the adhesion of bacteria in industrial cooling water systems by careful choice of material of construction. Results are presented showing that certain materials, eg. electropolished stainless steel, fluorinated ethylene polypropylene and glass are less hospitable than stainless steel 316.
