要約

Experiments have been performed to determine the detailed row-by-row heat transfer characteristics of staggered tube banks in cross flow in which longitudinal plate fins were attached to the individual tubes. The mass/heat transfer coefficients were measured by use of the naphthalene sublimation technique, and the flow patterns were also visualized via the oil-lampblack technique. The influence of fin-height on heat transfer coefficients has been studied systematically, and the results have been correlated as follows:

Nu=0.149(h/d)−0.23 Re0.696 Pr0.36

for Reynolds number 5 500-19 200. Detailed information on front fins, rear fins and base tubes has been obtained by measuring the quasi-local connective heat transfer coefficients of each part. Since the heat transfer coefficient and the fin effectiveness decrease while the fin becomes higher, so an optimum fin height exists.
