要約

Results of CFD modelling of 3D natural convection in closed rotating cavities are presented. The study deals with cavities in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped and a sectored annulus. The cavities are assumed to be heated from the periphery, constant temperatures are imposed on the outer and inner boundaries, and either adiabatic conditions or linear temperature distributions are considered for the remaining walls. The gas inside the cavities has a Prandtl number of 0.72. The calculations have been performed for Rayleigh numbers above 106. At these conditions unsteady flow regimes occur because of unstable temperature stratification in the centrifugal force field. Peculiarities of time-dependent velocity and temperature fields and data on temporal variations of heat transfer are discussed.
