要約

Many fossil fired boilers for power generation are designed for operation at supercritical pressure. Several correlations are available for the prediction of heat transfer coefficients of water at supercritical pressure and most of these are based on investigations reported on small diameter test sections. At certain combinations of mass velocity and heat flux an impairment of heat transfer has been reported which has been widely discussed and numerous investigations have contributed to the store of information on this phenomenon. This paper presents results of recent work on a test section with a relatively large internal diameter (1.5 inches) and supplements reported information on heat transfer coefficients and the conditions leading to the deterioration of heat transfer. The application of this knowledge in the design of supercritical steam generators is discussed.
