EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF NATURAL CONVECTION IN A HORIZONTAL CYLINDER
要約
Experiments were conducted to study the natural convection of oil enclosed in a horizontal cylinder at
large Prandtl and unit order Grashof numbers. The circumferential wall of a copper cylinder was heated
according to a cosine temperature distribution. The equipment was so designed that a variety of heating
configurations could be investigated.
For several heating configurations, detailed velocity and temperature measurements were made. The physical nature of "the core region" and of "the boundary layer region" were studied in each considered case.
Some of the experimental results were compared with the theory, which had been established previously for this problem.
