要約

This study, of which only the first part will be presented here, is an analytical and numerical investigation of the interaction of forced and free convection in unsteady laminar boundary layers for aiding and opposing flows. A comparison of the general unsteady compressible equations with their classical counter-part (Boussinesa approximation) leads to explicit criteria for the validity of the classical theory: Classes of exact and similar solutions are found to exist and will be discussed in some detail.
