要約

Results for heat transfer rate, mass flow rate, and fluid driving force and pressure gradient are presented in terms of the normalized steady-state velocity of the solid phase, the temperature differences between the heated wall and the liquid-solid interface, and between the interface and the solid environment. Heat-balance integral techniques are employed in the analysis with polynomial functions used to approximate the temperature and velocity distributions in the fluid. Data are presented for a gravity-feed melter using water and ice as the physical media. These data correspond to flow Reynolds numbers of 0.5 − 2. 0, based on the fluid layer thickness.
