Résumé

As a new design of MMHS (Manifold Micro-channel Heat Sink), SSHS (Self-Similar Heat Sink) is more compact and has a better flexibility in layout. In current work, a modified SSHS was put forward to overcome the flow maldistribution problem of the original design. Tapered contracting inlet manifold and the inlet plenum were adopted in the new design. Its applicability for electrical equipments with different sizes are further analyzed with numerical method. The extendibility of MHS, original SSHS and the modified SSHS were compared for cooling heat release surface with different sizes. The results indicated that original design of SSHS deteriorates in heat transfer as the heat transfer area increasing. While the modified SSHS has superiority in heat transfer uniformity and good extendibility to larger cooling area compared with the original design.
