Résumé

This paper presents the results of adiabatic two-phase flow measurements and observations at the outlet of a single fin passage. The froth height and the liquid hold-up of the froth are investigated.
It turned out that the froth height is triggered by the ability to drain the liquid, which can be well modelled by the modified Francis weir formula for sieve trays. To calculate the liquid hold-up Colwell's method for a sieve tray was adapted. Replacing the original total hole area per tray in Colwell's method by an effective cross section will give good agreement with the measurements.
