Résumé

Energy separation which occurs in various flow situations has an impact on heat transfer through the rearrangement of the temperature field. Energy separation in jets which yields central regions with higher temperature and outer regions with lower temperature is significantly affected by changes in vortex structure with acoustic excitation. In the present study, flow visualization reveals the effects of acoustic excitation on the vortex structure and the energy separation in jets. The vortex structure of a free jet is visualized by introducing fog into the jet flow, and the region of low recovery temperature of an impinging jet, which is caused by energy separation, is visualized with thermochromic liquid crystal. The excitation Strouhal number has significant effects on the vortex structure, and the location and the width of the region of low recovery temperature in an impinging jet change as acoustic excitation is imposed.
