Résumé

Measurements were made on the heat transfer coefficients on the cooled rotating disc, on the heated side wall of the container and on the heated bottom wall of the container. The ratios of the height of liquid and radius of the container to the radius of the disc were fixed at 2.86 and 1.43, respectively. The value of Prandtl number was about 4 and the temperature of the bottom wall was nearly equal to that of the side wall. The experimental result indicates that the measured values of all Nusselt numbers on the disc , on the side wall and on the bottom wall decrease with increasing rotational Reynolds number, take minimum values at a value of Reynolds number, and then increase with increasing value of Reynolds number. The critical rotational Reynolds number at which the Nusselt numbers take minimum values varies with the Rayleigh number to the power of 0.84. The Nusselt number on the disc as well as those on the side and bottom walls increase with increasing Rayleigh number at smaller Reynolds number. The Nusselt number on the disc decreases with increasing Rayleigh number at larger Reynolds number, whereas those on the side wall and on the bottom wall increase with increasing Rayleigh number.
