NUMERICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER OF LAMINAR 2D AND 3D IMPINGING JETS
Résumé
Numerical simulations of two-dimensional
and three-dimensional laminar jets impinging
on flat surfaces were performed by solving
nonsteady Navier-Stokes and energy equations.
Results show flow structures and heat
transfer on the impingement surfaces as
function of the geometry and Reynolds number.
Steady flows were obtained for Reynolds
numbers smaller than a critical value. Periodic
flows appeared at Reynolds numbers larger
than the critical value. At still higher Reynolds
number the flow became unsteady nonperiodic.
