MODELLING THE HEAT TRANSFER OF A FLAT PLATE IN THE HIGHLY TURBULENT WIND FIELD OF AN URBAN ENVIRONMENT
Résumé
The average forced convection heal transfer coefficient from a flat square plate of 10 m2 has been determined in the highly turbulent wind field of an urban environment in a long term measurement. Due to extreme fluctuations of wind speed and flow pattern forced convection heat transfer values are enhanced by 60% to 120%. A new model has been developed to correlate the heat, transfer enhancement with a statistical description of the free stream region above the heat exchanging area. The correlation with a new quantity, named directional turbulence, which describes magnitude and dynamics of the variation of the flow pattern, has been successful in reducing the model error to the error in measurement of 0.7 W/m2К.
