Résumé

Recently developed new correlations for film boiling heat transfer on the surfaces with different configurations, and for the minimum temperature to sustain vapor film, which are to be applicable to various liquids under a wide range of pressures, are described. Major contents are: 1) The rigorous numerical and the analytical solutions of the theoretical model based on the laminar boundary layer theory for film boiling heat transfer from horizontal cylinders including the effects of liquid subcooling and radiation from the cylinders, 2) A general correlation of film boiling heat transfer derived by slightly modifying the analytical solution to get agreement with the experimental results of saturated and subcooled film boiling heat transfer from horizontal cylinders with various diameters under a wide range of pressures for various liquids of widely different thermophysical properties, 3) The correlations for other configurations such as vertical plates and tubes, spheres and horizontal plates derived by the same procedure with that for horizontal cylinders, 4) The correlation for the minimum film boiling temperature on the solid surfaces of various materials under wide range of pressures for various liquids, 5) The mechanism of vapor film collapse in film boiling.
