Résumé

A natural circulation vapor generating loop is operated on a vertically oscillating carriage which simulates ship heaving motion. Mass flow rate, tube wall temperatures, burnout heat flux, and vapor void fraction are measured. Flow rate, wall temperature, and void fraction fluctuate in response to the motion, while burnout heat flux is reduced. The greatest deviations from steady flow values occur when there is resonance between motion frequency and natural flow oscillation frequency.
