HEAT TRANSFER AND FRICTION FACTORS FOR PURELY VISCOUS NON-NEWTONIAN FLUIDS IN TURBULENT PIPE FLOW
Résumé
Heat transfer and friction results are presented for the flow of purely viscous non-Newtonian fluids in turbulent pipe flow. The experimental friction factors were in excellent agreement with the DodgeMetzner prediction. On the other hand, none of heat transfer prediction methods was capable of giving accurate predictions over a wide range of the flow behavior index. A generalized graphical representation of all available experimental results is presented and may be used for predicting heat transfer
within ± 20% for values of the generalized Reynolds number above 10.000.
