Résumé

The paper presents results of an experimental study of heat and mass transfer in turbulent Hartmann flow. Using the electrochemical technique analogy is shown between the processes of turbulent heat and mass transfer in a magnetic field. The decrease in the heat and mass transfer due to a transverse magnetic field is largest in the transition range of Reynolds numbers and depends significantly on the magnitude of the Prandtl number and the length of the test section. Measurements of the local turbulence characteristics in a magnetic field show that large scale disturbances remain. The experiments favour the hypothesis about the transition to two-dimensional turbulence under the action of a magnetic field.
