Résumé

The formation of nitric oxide during the combustion of liquid fuels can be of particular importance when burning takes place in the vicinity of fuel droplets, especially when flames envelop the droplets. Changes in flame temperature and the ratio of flame radius to drop radius during the early stages of droplet combustion can have a particularly important effect on nitric oxide production since most of the nitric oxide is formed early in the combustion process when the flame region occupies the largest volume. A model is developed to examine the transient variation in flame structure around a burning droplet and its effect on nitric oxide production.
