TRANSIENT RADIATIVE HEAT TRANSFER BETWEEN TWO EMITTING-ABSORBING MEDIA
Résumé
Numerical (exact) solutions have been obtained for the transient energy exchange by radiation between two emitting-absorbing media that are suddenly brought into contact. Results for the temperature profile and radiative heat flux are presented for two different values of the initial temperature ratio (0.8 and 0.5). Also discussed are two approximate methods, one of which yields an analytical expression for the temperature profile valid for small times. An application of the solutions to accident analysis of liquid-metal-cooled fast breeder nuclear reactors is illustrated.
