NATURAL CONVECTION BETWEEN TWO CONCENTRIC SPHERES FOR HIGH PRANDTL NUMBER
Résumé
Numerical and experimental study of natural convection between two concentric spheres reveal various convective regimes depending on Rayleigh number, Prandtl number, and ratio of the sphere radii.
We propose here , a study for infinite Prandtl number. To determine the reference solution corresponding to the two dimensional regime we use: the ADI method, a spectral method, and for small values of the gap to radius ratio ε , a power expansion of ε and Ra.
Then, the stability of this two dimensional flow is investigated by linear theory .
Also, we show the results of the visuazation of stream lines for silicone oil corresponding to a Prandtl number of 30000.
