CONJUGATE HEAT TRANSFER BY NATURAL CONVECTION FROM A HORIZONTAL HEAT EXCHANGER TUBE
Résumé
A finite difference numerical procedure has been used to obtain solutions for steady conjugate heat transfer through a horizontal circular tube with forced convection inside, conduction in the tube wall and laminar natural convection to an infinite fluid outside. Solutions using various internal convective coefficients, tube wall-to-fluid thermal conductivity ratios, and wall thicknesses are compared with results from a simple one-dimensional heat flow model. Local entropy generation is computed within the tube wall and in the external fluid, providing information on local irreversibilities and indicating the location where energy should be extracted in the external fluid for maximum heat exchanger effectiveness .
