HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN CONDENSATION OF MULTICOMPONENT VAPOURS
Résumé
A procedure, simple in concept, is proposed for the design of condensers of multicomponent mixtures. It may be used either with methods based on the proper generalisation of Fick's Law or with methods in which independent diffusion is assumed. Criteria are discussed for choosing a priori between these alternatives. The procedures are supported and evaluated by data measured in condensation of two vapours from a non-condensing
gas inside and outside single vertical tubes and
over a horizontal tube bank. This review paper
assembles for the first time recent work at UMIST.
