Résumé

This paper describes the experimental mass transfer characteristics of a neutrally buoyant suspension of polystyrene spheres in an aqueous solution in tube flow at laminar tube Reynolds numbers. The shear field caused particle motions and associated local fluid mixing which significantly increased dissolved gas transfer rates over that of a single phase laminar flow for a large range of particle concentrations (.3% to 27.5%), particle diameters (50 to 100μ), -particle rotation Reynolds numbers (.1 to 2) and Schmidt numbers (120 to 470). Similarities were found to heat and mass transfer in turbulent tube flow.
