Résumé

Calculations based on the anomalous skin effect theory of optical constants are presented for the thermal radiation properties of thin metallic films at cryogenic temperatures. The spectral normal emissivity as a function of temperature, wavelength, and film thickness is calculated numerically and compared with results from various approximate methods. For the class of thin metallic films actually used in many engineering systems, the effect of film thickness of the emissivity increases with the decrease of temperature, but this effect is noticeable even at room temperature. The theoretical results are also compared with existing experimental data.
