HEAT TRANSFER FROM A PRESSURIZED GAS TO A TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Résumé
A one-dimensional analysis is presented for the transient temperature distribution in an ideal gas whose pressure varies rapidly with time. The gas is semi-infinite in extent and is in contact with a sensor of finite
heat capacity and uniform temperature. Exact solutions are obtained for the case in which the pressure varies with time in a convenient, but realistic, manner. Predictions for heat flux to the sensor are compared with
rarefaction wave tube data from pertinent literature with good agreement in general. For small times, the predicted heat flux varies with time in a more plausible manner than is indicated either by the extrapolated data or by previous analyses.
