Sinopsis

Thermal effects such as self-heating and light induced heating in nano/micro-structured thin-film solar cells are evident and may constrain the output performance dramatically. In this paper, the thermodynamic systems of gallium arsenide plasmonic solar cell have been taken into account. Heat generation of thermalization and heat dissipation due to convective are coupled to the optical-electronic process. The amount of absorbed optical power would convert into heat energy and temperature profile of the solar cell are analyzed. Heating effect on electrical performance of short circuit current density and output power are investigated. Results show that thermalization have a major contribution to the temperature rise (~10K), which leads to a certain influence on the electrical performance. The plasmonic solar cell can obtain a better output performance by optimizing the parameters of metal nanoparticles to regulate the light absorption and energy transformation. This work can provide a significant reference for the optimization design of solar cells or other optoelectronic devices.
