HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT OF SOLID-LIQUID PHASE CHANGE USING CUBIC BOUNDARY
Sinopsis
The phase change material (PCM) can be used to maintain the temperature of battery since the little temperature variation during phase change and large latent heat. In this paper, in order to enhance the heat transfer of PCM, the cubic boundary is applied. The effects of cubic boundary are investigated with the Rayleigh number of 104, 105 and 106, by using lattice Boltzmann (LB). When the Rayleigh number is 104, with the weak natural convection, the cubic boundary is able to reduce the melting rate of PCM. The melting time is decreased from 2.09 to 1.79 when the Rayleigh number is increased to 105 and the vertical wall is replaced by the cubic boundary with control parameter of 10.
