Sinopsis

In this study, the removal process of an organic material coat on silver nano-particles surface, which takes an important role for the prevention of the particle agglomeration, was precisely investigated. A removal model of the surface coat was considered as the pyrolysis of an organic material, and the reaction model of the pyrolysis that would provide a peculiar treatment time at different treatment temperature was introduced according to the data obtained through the differential scanning calorimetry measurement. The samples that were considered to have similar agglomeration level of the nano-particles were prepared by using the model. The observational study by the scanning electron microscopy showed that the agglomeration situation of nano-particles differed much from the anticipation, and the particle agglomeration was significantly enhanced by the rise of treatment temperature. This result indicated that the pyrolysis of the surface coat and the agglomeration of the particles should be considered as the simultaneously occurring phenomena to precisely control the functionality of the nano-particles by the thermal treatment.
