Sinopsis

In this paper, an experimental investigation on flow characteristics of a vertical impinging stream dryer is reported. It has been found that the gravity has a remarkable influence on the pressure drop and the distribution of particle velocity over the impingement zone. A single-particle dynamics model has been described to analyze the flow of particles in this system. The theoretical predictions of particle velocity agree well with the measured results. The effects of various factors on water removed from the solid particles have also been explored. Based on the experiment data, it can be seen that increasing hot air temperature properly is the best way to increase water removed and recycling some particles has an obvious influence on the water removed also by prolonging the mean residence time of particles and recycling the residual heat of the dried product.
