Sinopsis

The porous-medium model is chosen to analyze air cooled micro-rectangular channel structures. By a solution of the model deduced by us, four micro-heat exchangers are tested. Special attention is paid to their construction of quite large aspect ratio (16, 25, 50 and 67 respectively) channels in order to strengthen heat transfer at given pressure drops. Experimental results reveal that a heat flux of 1.6, 3 and 4.8 W/cm2 is dissipated with a 40°C temperature rise, while each pressure drop is only 50 mmH20, respectively by the three with an aspect ratio of 16, 50 and 67. The highest cooling of 28 W/cm2 is achieved. In addition, two odd phemomena in the experiments are also observed, both of which imply the special behaviors of gases in microchannels.
