Sinopsis

In the present paper, thermal-hydraulic predictive methods, commercial applications, and mechanical design characteristics are presented for RODbaffle heat exchangers. RODbaffle thermal-hydraulic predictive methods are based upon data from 14 different bare and low-finned tube bundles, using air, water, and oil as test fluids. Single-phase thermal-hydraulic predictive methods are valid over the Reynolds number range from 300 to 150,000 and for Prandtl numbers ranging from 0.7 to 45. Mechanical design details presented are valid from RODbaffle heat exchangers having shell diameters from 305 mm (12 inches) to 4064 mm (160 inches) and tube lengths extending to 24.38 m (80 feet).
